A Coffee With…Rob Kelly

Rob Kelly, director and Head of Corporate at Holden Smith

Which person has inspired you the most in your life, and why?

Michael Collins, the Irish Rebel. The Big Fellow freed Ireland before being shot by his own side.

What is your proudest career achievement to date?

Completing the purchase of Track Communications on the 59th floor of the World Trade Center in New York in September 2001, just two days before the Twin Towers were destroyed.  I keep my World Trade Center security pass to remind me how lucky I was that the deal didn't go on two more days. Sidley Austin Lawyers lost four of their staff from the 59th floor.

What time of day do you like to drink your coffee (or tea)?

Tea – constantly, all day long.

What’s your favourite snack to have with your coffee or tea?

A plain digestive biscuit, but I’m happy with just the tea, to be honest!

Milk and sugar?

Just milk, please.

Which famous person would you most like to have a coffee with, and why?

Julia Roberts

How do you relax away from work?

I’m a craftsman dry stone waller. It’s nice to have a hobby that also pays, and I also love teaching on the beginner walling courses.
