Meet…Holly Hawkings
What is your role at Holden Smith and how did you get into a career in law?
I’m a trainee solicitor at Holden Smith. When studying my undergraduate law degree, I instantly enjoyed land law. I continued with my studies through lockdown, going on to study my LLM LPC, and the decided to apply for trainee roles in the property sector to further my knowledge and interest.
What are we likely to find you doing on a day-to-day basis?
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll find me speaking to clients and acting for them in the sale and purchase of their homes.
What kind of problem might you solve on a typical day / week?
I really enjoy resolving complex title issues on freehold and leasehold sales and purchases – which I do a lot of!
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The satisfaction of calling a client and telling them we have completed on their sale / purchase. Selling or buying a house can be a stressful time in a person’s life, so being able to support them throughout the transaction, and giving them that final call to tell them we have completed and hearing their gratitude is very rewarding.
Tell us what makes Holden Smith different…
We’re a very tech forward law firm and invest a lot in our technology to ensure clients receive the most effective and time efficient service to avoid any unnecessary hassle.
What three words do you think (hope!) your colleagues would use to describe you?
I hope my colleagues would describe me as friendly, talkative, and bubbly.
What are we most likely to find you doing when you’re not at work?
You will most likely find me spending time with my friends and family.
What’s your favourite spot in Yorkshire and why?
Hewenden Viaduct – the views are lovely and I have some great memories going on summer walks during covid.
What’s your party trick?
I can fit my whole fist in my mouth!
